What are continental initiatives?

In order to establish the church where it does not exist, we must strategically engage the continent by discerning the most critical needs and how the Holy Spirit is directing us. To accomplish this, we have three AGWM Africa church-planting initiatives: NC2, Live Dead, and Urban Tribes. Each focus on a slightly different methodology, which helps us achieve our mission more effectively.

  • NC2

NC2 emphasizes the exponential power of partnership when two churches combine their strengths to establish God’s work. As missionaries from the US A/G, God has given us some amazing national churches as our partners in Africa. We invest in these national church partnerships through relationships and resources, increasing the capacity of the church as it becomes fully indigenous. As the church matures, our relationship deepens into missional partnership—with a goal of reproducing this cycle.

  • Live Dead Africa

Across the continent there are 867 people groups numbering over 240,000,000 individuals who are culturally isolated from the gospel. These people cannot choose to follow Christ because they live in a place where there are no Christians, no culturally relevant church, and no access to the Bible in a language they understand. Live Dead works in teams to plant the church among these unreached people, by modeling the church concept, one- on-one discipleship, and often gaining access through creative businesses.

  • Urban Tribes

Africa is urbanizing at an incredible rate. Some statistics predict that 50% of the population will live in urban centers by 2030. As these cities become melting pots for cultures, a new demographic emerges full of challenges and rich with opportunities. Urban Tribes engages with these influencers by planting healthy urban churches where people can meet Jesus, be discipled, and learn to use their influence to change Africa, and the world.
